Successful in the bedrock

Micromata programs the second generation of the geo-information system K+S GeoBASE®.

The history

The K+S AG has been one of our clients since 2004. The company is a listed supplier for fertilisers, botanical care and salt products for agriculture, industry and private demand. Eleven mines in Germany and several production sites abroad extract minerals and salts from a depth of 1,500 meters. To do so, they need appropriate geo-information software like GeoBASE, which has been significantly improved in version 2, made by Micromata.

Already in the late 1980s, K+S had begun software management of all processes of salt extraction. The analogue drawing technique to display soil conditions has been delegated to the computer (CAD); in addition, knowledge hitherto stored in cabinets and brains has been archived in an appropriate database. As time goes by, the previously strictly separated EDV disciplines of drawing and data storage have been combined in GeoBASE, which makes K+S a pioneer of digital geo-information systems and software-assisted mine-surveying.
