Intensive Program on Computer Vision
Micromata, Software Development Company located in Kassel, has supported the international Summer Academy 'Intensive Study Program of Computer Vision 2012' at the University of Koblenz for the very first time this year (22nd June till 3rd of August).
The IPCV is a two-week European intensive study program on the subjects of automatic viewing and image recognition. For instance, it is aimed at students completing a Master but also at practitioners within the IT economy who develop robotics analysis programs for 3D modeling and object recognition for digital images and movies.
Topics discussed at the IPCV 2012 were varied and included colored-picture editing, calibration of cameras and 3D-reconstruction of video images and fringe projection. For Micromata, a company that places great importance on research and development, supporting the IPCV is a matter that is near to their heart. At Micromata members of staff work passionately with the newest technologies of computer visualization and automatic viewing and also further the development of such.
The IPCV was first introduced in 1996 in Koblenz and since then has been taking place regularly at various European universities, e.g. Granada in Spain (1998), Saint-Etienne in France (2004), Budapest in Hungary (2006) and Joensuu in Finland (2008).
However, participants are streaming in from non-European countries also - such as Thailand, China and the USA. The Summer Academy 2012 has visited Koblenz for the third time and was organized by the task group Active Viewing (AGAS) under the leadership of Prof. Dietrich Paulus.
