Within the cluster's framework computer scientists, engineers, physicians, solicitors and economists from the Technical University of Darmstadt, the Fraunhofer SIT and the University of Darmstadt develop trend-setting IT Security Solutions and start applying these within economic contexts. Prof. Dr. Johannes Buchmann, director of CASED, confirms that "Security is the main prerequisite for the evolvement of the potential of Information Technology as most important, worldwide drive for innovation."
The Cluster's central office is the Center for Advanced Security Research Darmstadt (CASED), which is sponsored by the federal government of Hessen within the framework of the LOEWE Initiative. During these projects the Cluster develops important basic knowledge and IT security solutions for practical situations.
"For our online software POLYAS as well as the software developed for our clients IT security is a fundamental building block." Kai Reinhard explains the close cooperation. "With the partnership we aspire an intensive exchange between economy and science in order to develop cutting-edge technology in the field of IT security."One step of this cooperation involves Micromata's support of the research work of Ph. D. student Maina M. Olembo who focuses on the "Usable Verifiability in Remote Electronic Voting“.
